National Student Assembly 2025

November 1-2 • ETH Zurich

👥 Who: Students aged 14-20 years & Student representatives

💰 Price: Free of charge

The voice of youth united in one place.

The National Student Assembly (NSA) is the largest nationwide conference of student representatives in Switzerland, organized by the Union of Student Organizations (USO) – the official national voice of students in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Over two days, delegates from all 26 cantons come together to debate, shape, and vote on the official youth and education policy positions of Switzerland’s students.

We warmly welcome all students and student representatives from school councils, student organizations, and youth groups across all language regions of Switzerland and Liechtenstein to be part of this national gathering.

At the National Student Assembly, you actively take part in shaping national youth and education policy. You can debate real issues, vote on key topics, and make your voice count. Meet passionate peers from across the country, share ideas, and build friendships and networks that last long beyond the event.

Our venues at ETH Zurich allow for dialogue and direct one-to-one conversations with politicians and peers.

The atmosphere at the National Student Assembly allows for genuine dialogue and one-on-one conversations. Most importantly, it is your platform to bring the concerns and visions from your school or canton onto the national stage.

Program Schedule

Saturday, November 1st

12:00 – Check-in and Welcome Speech

Participants will be welcomed at ETH Zurich, register at the front desk, and receive their participation kits. This is the perfect moment to settle in and begin meeting fellow delegates.

General Assembly of the USO

The central session of the day brings together student representatives from across Switzerland and Liechtenstein to:

  • Elect the new National Student Board.
  • Define the future direction of the USO for 2026.
  • Debate, vote on and adopt key positions on youth and education policy.

This assembly is both a platform for shaping the voice of students and a unique opportunity to contribute to decisions of national importance. The positions adopted here will guide the USO’s advocacy throughout the year on Switzerland’s political stage.

Youth Policy Workshop

In this interactive session, participants will work with guest speakers from politics, education, and other professional fields. The workshop offers practical insights into current youth and education issues, along with the chance to exchange perspectives and develop new ideas together. Rather than long speeches, the focus is on dialogue and hands-on discussion, giving every participant the opportunity to contribute their own viewpoints.

19:00 – Barbecue Dinner

The day concludes with a relaxed barbecue dinner at the youth accommodation near Zoo Zurich. Over good food and a casual atmosphere, participants can unwind, meet new people, and continue conversations from the sessions. It’s a simple and enjoyable chance to build connections with peers from across Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Evening Program in Zurich

To round off the day, participants are invited to explore Zurich’s city center together. The evening program combines light cultural activities with plenty of time to enjoy the city in good company. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking.

Sunday, November 2nd

9:00 – Focus Topics Workshops

In smaller groups, participants will dive deeper into selected youth and education topics. The workshops are designed to be hands-on, encouraging active discussion and exchange of ideas. Each group will work towards concrete outcomes that can be shared with the wider assembly.

Podium Discussion: Politicians Debate

Representatives from Switzerland’s major political parties will debate current issues affecting young people. The session offers space for open questions and discussion, giving participants the chance to hear different perspectives and to connect directly with political decision-makers.

12:00 – Departure

After an inspiring weekend, student representatives will return home with valuable insights, new connections, and fresh motivation. To acknowledge their commitment, participants who take part fully in the workshops will be awarded official USO certificates and an invitation to our Alumni Network.
